Our review policy

Reviews are only useful if you can trust them. These rules apply to every review, every doctor and every practice, including sponsors.

What we publish

Any genuine first-hand account of care from a patient, or from a family member who was there, positive or negative, that follows the rules below. We never reject or delay a review because it is negative. We don't let practices pay to remove reviews, and we don't publish reviews written or paid for by a practice.

How we check

  • Every reviewer confirms their email address. The email is never displayed or shared.
  • Every review is read by a moderator before it appears, usually within a few business days.
  • We look for signs of fake or coordinated reviews, such as many reviews from the same source, reviews written by staff or competitors, or incentives, and remove those that fail.

What we remove

  • Reviews that are not a genuine first-hand experience, including reviews by employees, relatives, competitors or anyone offered something in return.
  • Other people's names or private health information, and anything that could identify another patient.
  • Threats, hate speech, profanity directed at people, and sexual content.
  • Off-topic content, advertising and links.
  • Specific accusations of crimes or professional misconduct. These belong with the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board, and we'll tell you how to file.

If we remove part of a review, we tell the reviewer and invite them to resubmit.

For doctors and practices

Practices that claim their listing can send one public response to each review by emailing admin@urologywisconsin.com from the address verified in their claim. A moderator publishes it under the review. Responses must not reveal any information about the patient, including confirming that the reviewer is a patient, because that would breach HIPAA. If you believe a review breaks these rules, use the "report" link on the review. Reports are judged against this policy only.

Health information

Reviews are public. Please don't include diagnoses, medications or details about your health that you wouldn't want shared. Moderators may trim them.
